Comic Con haul!

Description

I've been posting pictures and things to Twitter but have been neglecting all my wonderful friends and watchers here.  Shame on me!

So, a couple/few weeks ago a friend of mine took me to the first ever (and my first ever) Colorado Springs Comic Con!  It clearly wasn't the most expansive or extravagant Comic Con there ever was, but I had a blast regardless!  We saw a panel on the history of computer-generated effects in film that blew our minds, and there were also tons of cool characters and collectibles to look at!  There were a decent amount of celebrities there, too, although I wasn't particularly interested in seeing them.  The likes of Dean Cain, Ric Flair, the character designer of King of the Hill, and a few Power Rangers and Walking Dead stars were there too!

There were lots of great cosplayers there as well, as you can imagine.  Some great Aquamans and Deadpools, as well as several Jokers and Harley Quinns of current Suicide Squad fame.
I did a bit of cosplaying myself, sporting the Rocket Raccoon hoodie that I acquired last winter!  Phone pictures get effed up when I try to post them here, so you can just view the outfit here: twitter.com/BrownFoxBR/status/…
Surprisingly, I was the only Rocket there, and out of the Guardians I only saw one Star-Lord.  While I was there, some kids tapped me on the shoulder and wanted to take a picture with me too!  ^#^

Now, in my current situation, I'm not very high on funds.  But I HAD to get some kind of souvenir to commemorate this occasion!
There was a help desk selling shirts and other official merchandise for the con, and I picked up the one you see above!  I like the design and color, but I REALLY wish they put the year on any of their shirts.  The con had a great turnout from my perspective, so it's practically a sure thing that this will become an annual tradition!  So why not put the year???
Second, a local-ish comic store had a booth at the con.  Well to be perfectly accurate, quite a few comic stores did, but THIS one was selling comics for just a dollar each!  As I was on a budget, how could I NOT take a look?  I shamefully had no physical Marvel comics in my collection before that, only an old DC "Captain Carrot" and a Sly Cooper comic I got from an old Playstation magazine or something.  I had to fix such a grave error and expand my Marvel horizons!
As it is common knowledge by now that Rocket Raccoon is the single greatest comic book character ever created, I searched the booth's boxes for basically anything Rocket-related.  I also grabbed an Infinity Gauntlet one because, you know, something with that title should be pretty important.  I had the comics "appraised" by the biggest comic nerd I know, and it turns out they're all from around the same time period of the third Secret Wars arc.  The two comics to the left, "Infinity Gauntlet" and "Guardians of Knowhere" have "Secret Wars" stamped on their covers, showing that they're a par of the event, while the others were easily placed before or after the event.  I haven't gotten to all of these comics yet, but the "Infinity Gauntlet" one is a little underwhelming for an introduction, and that "Groot" series is absolutely AMAZING!  I at least have a jumping off point for Marvel comics now, so I can continue to broaden my horizons and expand my collection from this point!

Since the con, I have already doubled my Marvel comic collection.  If people are interested, I may post a pic of those too, or perhaps of my entire comic collection to date.  What do ya think?

Here's hoping I can make it to next year's Colorado Springs Comic Con!  ^^
